On April 5, 2019 my classmate Jaz Pintar blogged “Our Education Is in Trouble!” Here are my thoughts on the article. I chose this blog post because one blog that I did over this semester was regarding school the funding system. I honestly agree with you Jaz Pintar that nothing has changed with Texas school funding system. We keep on trying to beg the Texas legislature to give more money to schools to let children have a good educational system, but nothing is changing. I totally agree with your augment; Texas has not done anything to improve our educational system for future students, but they spend millions of dollars on standardized tested, hindering the public educational system for future generations. I enjoy reading your article because I felt the same way about education, and I really think that Texas should think more about funding it.

Nearly 700,000 young undocumented immigrants have been saved from deportation under DACA, which is a program that was created by Barack Obama in 2012. Since Donald Trump entered office, he has decided to eliminate DACA and give Congress six months to take action and come up with a new plan. Congress has not taken any actions and all the young immigrants’ lives are on hold. Congress should take action and all its members should give the dreamers a hope to live. DACA should be saved. The members of the House should pass legislation that allows the young immigrants to live the American Dream with nothing to force them to get deported. A good example of an immigrated person is one of my friends who was an undocumented immigrant. She was a great person with a wonderful personality. She was a hardworking and full-time student. One day she called me and said, “I am getting deported.”  I was very sad for her and wanted to help, so I introduced her to one of the lawyers that I knew in town. I wanted him to help her, and he did. I was so happy for her; I think no one should suffer the way my friend did. It is wrong to just deport people who have lives in the United States, and have families. I think Ken Paxton is not a good man because he is against DACA. He was the one who told the Federal judge to strike down Obama-era deportation protections for immigrants. He wants to just deport people, and that is just wrong.

The testimony “The Minimum Wage Hinders Texas’ Progress” by Vance Ginn, appeared in the blog for the committee members of the Texas Public Policy Foundation on February 25, 2019. The author’s immediate audience were the readers of Texas Public Policy Foundation Blog. The author believes that raising the minimum wage can harm people with low-skill level, and less jobs in the future. The argument of this article is that giving people a raise can lead people to a bigger disaster in the future. For example, he says, “As the figure below illustrates, setting a minimum wage floor above a market wage results in unemployment, especially for low-skilled workers. It also lowers future job creation and pushes unemployed workers who would take a wage at less than a minimum wage into long periods of unemployment and dependency on family or taxpayers.” I disagree with Ginn, because giving a high raise to people can help more families improve. People work hard for what they do in their jobs; they work hard to get money and they deserve to get paid for how hard they work each day. The person who gave the testimony and wrote the blog is Vance Ginn, Ph.D. Director of the Center for Economic Prosperity. His achievements indicate that he is credible on economic topics. Mr. Ginn does not only give evidence about how raising the minimum wage can harm people, he also gives examples of how instead of giving people a raise we could do something good with the money to help people more. For example, we could Remove government barriers to work, or increase skills by improving educational outcomes through competition among schools. We could also expand investments and job opportunities by passing a conservative Texas budget that increases government spending of taxpayers, money by the smallest amount possible.
